Lately, Kate found a library book about a little boy who finds a dinosaur in his back yard. Cute little story. But most importantly, the book is well illustrated and the main character is a cute little boy by the name of Wilbur. Kate insisted that Mommy bring that book home a second time. She clearly like the little boy since latelly she has been insisting that people call her "Little Boy Wilbur". Yes, that is her name these days.
Anyway, tonight, we had Stacey and Chuck over for a fun Luau Party. Kim and the kids got some Hawaiian decorations and all guests were encouraged to wear fun flower necklaces. We cooked salmon and pineapple on the grill and like the Lord said "it was good!" During dinner, at some point, Kate started singing a song about directions...she said: "North, South, East, August". August? we all thought it was very funny since not too long before she was talking about the number "D".

I love you daddy!
It was the coolest thing. The other day, Jack, Kate, and I went over to Lowes to pick up some light-bulbs. I was knealing down to read the specs on a box of bulbs when I felt Kate's tiny little arm on my shoulder. She she was leaning on me and out of the blue, she said: "I love you daddy!". Seriously? She's not even 3 yet and she thought of saying that? That was sooooo awesome! I love you too Kate!

Little Kate got her very own big-girl bed.
We finally did it. We went down to Costco and got Kate a twin-size mattress set to replace
her crib with a new big-girl bed. Mommy got a bed spread from Target that very nicely
matches the rest of her room. Katie was so excited...but at the same time was asking
about her crib. Overall, though, she loved it. Even Jack was a little jealous. Happy valentine's
everyone!

Kate Recording - January 13, 2011
Kim wanted me to capture Little Katie's voice before she grows up and loses it. I thought it was a very good idea. So here's a little sample. I hope to do a few more recordings like these and post them here. They will be great memories.

Daddy, did you pee your pants?
The other morning, I was wearing my green camo shorts. Cute little Kate noticed that the "spots" vary in color. Some are light green, while others are darker green. These darker green spots must have appeared as though they were wet to her, because upon seing and pointing at one of them, she asked: "Daddy did you pee your pants?". It was so funny Kim and I could not stop laughing!!!

Kate talks to God on a magic toy phone
Recently, Jack had been talking about how God had made his potty, while Kate's potty had been acquired from Toys R Us.
Today, Kate, while playing with her toy phone, was asked by Mommy: "Kate, who are you talking to?" Kate: "I am talking to God, Hi God..."

Can I pick you up?
Kate is very cute. When she wants me to pick her up, she'll ask me: Can I pick you up daddy?
Kate will also ask if she can want things. What? Yes, she'll say stuff like:
Mommy, can I want my bunny, can i want it??? ...very cute

Katie has a sense of humor?
Kim's nightly routine for the kids is to read them at least one book before they go to sleep. Usually, it is Jack who actually pays attention to the story. Katie is still a little too little to care about the story. But she does like books. And for some reason, 'Good Night Moon' is currently her favorite. If you have ever seen the book, you know that there is one page that has a picture of a cow jumping over the moon. Katie, likes to point at the cow and say: "Dog". I used to correct her and say, "No Katie, that's a cow!, Mooooo". And of course, she is stubborn and will say: "No, doggy, roof-roof!".
So, today, when looking at the book, I decided to go along with her. I said, "Yes Katie, a doggy!". She smiled and said: "No, daddy, COW, MOOOOOO!". I know it's hard to believe she would do that, but she did, she really did that. She's not even two yet, and she was pulling my chain the whole time she was calling it a dog before. I thought it was pretty funny! We love you Katie!

Katie can jump!
Lately, Katie has been trying to jump like her brother. Most of the time she tries, she makes merely makes the gesture that she is jumping but does not really get off the ground. Today, that all changed. Today, she actually jumped! It was awesome! She was off the ground at least 1/2 an inch! Good work Katie

Katie is learning a lot of new words lately!
We are here in California to celebrate Christmas with Victor's family. Katie has had to learn a lot of new names of people she had never met. To everyone's surprise, Katie has been able to remember a lot of people by name. She repeats a lot of new words and appears to understand a lot more than she can speak. It is pretty neat to see her develop her language skills so fast. Good job Katie, keep up the good work! Merry Christmas everyone!

In today's Toddler Daily Report from daycare we found the followwing statement at the bottom: "Kate was very sympathetic toward a friend today. She touched his face and said 'sad'. So sweet". Pretty neat considering she's under 2 years old.
