What are RSS Feeds?
RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication". Essentially, it is a convenient way to publish frequently updated content. RSS feeds are delivered in a standardized XML format allowing the contents of an RSS feed to be easily consumed by a variety of applications, known as RSS readers or just readers. Using a reader, people interested in a feed's contents may subscribe to it and in doing so, will be automatically updated whenever new content is published on such feed.

NOTE: There are many RSS readers out there. They all essentially do the same thing, but some are better than others. I'm no expert in the matter, but I do like the way Google Reader works.
